- What Every Fashion Designer Needs to Know about Intellectual Property with Mary White of Stobbs
Protect your brand’s worth, make money from your work and secure funding.
Fashion creatives – your work, brand and creativity – and the imagination, sweat and tears coming with it – are worth their weight in gold and you have rights!
Drawing from real-life start-up and SMEs clients and big-brand companies from successes to sketchy situations and a wealth of knowledge of IP in the fashion world – from textiles to footwear and accessories, Mary White from international brand advisory Stobbs will cover what every fashion designer absolutely needs to know about protecting their intellectual property!
Mary will cover everything about IP in Fashion, from identifying monopoly rights on particular valuable creativity you may not even know you own and their worth, to understanding the differences between Irish copyrighting, industrial designs and trademark rights, their worth, and best usage.
She will delve into how to defend yourself against ‘Dupes,’ copycats and counterfeits, prove ownership and take legal action but also how to avoid common pitfalls, identify when drawing inspiration from creative work and trends ends and an ethical breach begins and even you could be at risk of crossing the line yourself.
She will also discuss navigating the new digital world of AI and share her tips and insights on online marketing and sales, building a strong and secure brand from the outset and best practices for brand protection to compete on the global and territorial stage.
