Design Professionals in the Gig Economy – An increasing number of specialist design professional service providers work in The Gig economy, and it has many advantages including flexibility and variety for both the service providers and larger organizations and agencies, enabling them to hire specialist skills for specific projects, and allowing design specialists to command rates that reflect their experience and expertise.  Understanding how to navigate a crisis is the key to not only holding your rates and ensuring you are paid on time, but also taking advantage of the increase in casual and temporary contracts on offer in a time of economic uncertainty.

Don’t waste a good Crisis – May 14th 9.30 – 10.30am –

Recession research – insights from previous downturns and recessions, as well as patterns of how clients react in a downturn.   What do you need to know and do to maintain clients, prices, sales and profitability. Understand what winning businesses do during a recession, how they capture opportunities and the piffall for those who acknowledged the recession late.

Clients will be moving the goalpost – how should we respond? – May 21st 9.30 – 10.30am

Many will find agencies and clients revising briefs, and even changing direction completely and expecting the additional costs to be absorbed.  How can you anticipate, prepare for and manage these situations?  The 4 classic client objections you are likely to hear in the next few months and ways to respond to those curve balls which can take us by surprise. Prepare for and anticipate client demands. Negotiation and the confidence to be more assertive, and know when and how to say ‘No’.

Positioning your Business to capture opportunities  – May 28th 9.30 – 10.30am

Prepare for the upturn and plan for business development with both existing and new clients.  Now is a great time to grow stronger relationships with existing clients and to reach out and connect with new prospects. Learn how to work with existing clients to plan for the future and help them see and capture opportunities, and the marketing techniques that work best for creatives and designers to prospect new business and engage new clients.
