About this Event

No, Not Like That: An introduction to lettering for graphic designers.

Most designers can draw letters, sort of, just as most designers can sing, sort of.

But using type and drawing type are very different things, and lettering skills are no longer taught in most design schools.

The first part of this two-part workshop will take you through some basic principles of letter construction, review some common rookie mistakes, and assign a small lettering project due the following week.

The second workshop will be devoted to critique and discussion of the participants’ assignments, and finally an analysis of your own individual strengths and weaknesses and suggestions for further development.

A must for branding designers, aspiring type designers, and anyone who wants to work more effectively with lettering, wordmarks, and typefaces.

Workshop Times

Workshop One:
Friday 18th June, 9-10.30am

Workshop Two:
Friday 25th June, 9-10.30am
